Elaine and I welcomed Liz to Saham Studio for a 1-2-1 Macro session where she worked through a number of exercises and set ups as she honed her skills at taking macro photographs. As well asworking with natural light she also made use of reflectors and camera techniques to control focus, depth of field and tried her hand at “Focus Stacking” a number of macro images using Helicon Focus software. The session ended with some examples of post processing techniques using Adobe Photoshop CC and Lightroom Classic CC.
In her email to the studio at the conclusion of the workshop Liz said:-
“Many thanks to you & Elaine for a very interesting and informative morning, we covered a lot of ground and I’ve been buzzing since I got home! I’ve purchased the book you showed me, discovered I’ve already got Adobe Paper Texture Pro and downloaded the Helicon trial. You explained everything we did very clearly, demonstrated where necessary, and went over aspects of Photoshop that were new to me so they were understood. I hope the images I’ve attached show that I was listening! The first thing I tried was the workflow you showed me, which resulted in ‘Berries – original’ turning into ‘Berries – oil painting’.
Then I ran the pink flower (which I brought with me today and took a series of images whilst I was with you) through Helicon: ‘Pink’ (example) to ‘Pink – stacked’ to ‘Pink – finished’.
Finally I went outside & took a series of images of some fungi growing on an old tree stump and also ran that through Helicon:
Now actively seeking interesting flowers and anything else I might be able to use with Helicon.
Once again, many thanks!”
Well done Liz – it was a pleasure to have worked with you at Saham Studio.
